Chris Gardner joined Vitesse in 1986. In May 2006, he was appointed the chief executive officer and later that year, October 2006, was named a director of the Company. Starting his Vitesse career as an engineer, he was promoted to engineering and business unit management positions before holding the executive management roles of vice president and chief operating officer of the Company and vice president and general manager of the Network Products Division.
Mr. Gardner's extensive semiconductor-focused career also includes a tenure at Bell Labs. Mr. Gardner received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
2. Martin S. McDermut Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Marty McDermut joined Vitesse in July 2011 as senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer. Mr. McDermut has more than 25 years of financial management experience including finance, accounting, auditing, general management, capital markets and investor relations. Most recently, Mr. McDermut was managing director of Avant Advisory Group, a financial advisory and management consulting firm to entrepreneurial and middle market companies. He has also served as chief financial officer for publicly traded companies including Iris International Inc. and Superconductor Technologies Inc. He was a partner at the public accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand (now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP), where he was the practice leader of the firm's Los Angeles Entrepreneurial Advisory Services group.
Mr. McDermut is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Merger & Acquisitions Advisor, Certified Fraud Specialist. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago.
3. Martin Nuss, Ph.D. Vice President, Technology and Strategy and Chief Technical Officer
Martin Nuss joined Vitesse in November 2007 as Vice President, Technology and Strategy and Chief Technical Officer. Mr. Nuss will be responsible for identifying markets and technologies that leverage Vitesse's technical assets and ingenuity, for creating product roadmaps, and for identifying new solutions platforms that can further the Company's growth and profitability. WIth more than 20 years of technical and management experience, Mr. Nuss was most recently, chief technology officer of Ciena's Optical Ethernet group where he led the successful integration of the products and technology acquired from Internet Photonics. Prior to Ciena's acquisition of the company, he was founder and CTO of Internet Photonics. He also served 15 years at Bell Labs in various technical and management roles including director of the Optical Data Networks Research Department, where he was responsible for research on Lucent's 10 Gigabit Multimode Fiber and innovations in the 10 GbE Metro Networking space. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and a member of IEEE. Mr. Nuss holds a doctorate in applied physics from the Technical University in Munich, Germany.
Paul Browne joined Vitesse in February 2006 and currently serves as the vice president, engineering. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of product development for the Company's Networking and Ethernet products. During his tenure with Vitesse, he has served as vice president, engineering for the Ethernet Products Division, then as the vice president and general manager of the Ethernet Products Division.
With over 20 years of engineering, management and operation experience in advanced technology product development, Mr. Browne has previously held various engineering management positions with some of the industry's leading networking companies. Most recently, he was the senior director of engineering for the Data Business Unit of 3Com. Mr. Browne received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
5. Roy Carew Vice President, Quality, Product and Test Engineering
Roy Carew originally joined Vitesse in 1985. He is the vice president of quality and product and test engineering. During his tenure at Vitesse, he has held multiple senior management positions within the Quality and Assembly and Test Operations departments. Possessing over 23 years of IC engineering expertise with a concentrated focus on assembly, test operations and quality, Mr. Carew is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of Vitesse's standards-compliant products and managing the Company's ISO certification.
Mr. Carew has also worked for Rockwell International Science Center and St. Jude Medical. He earned as bachlor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois.
